He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. — Colossians 1:17

Life is Jesus. Jesus is life. ~ Lisa Whittle

This week, I had to lie down and sleep more. It has been so exhausting and emotional, hasn’t it? I’ve felt surprisingly raw and jangled and worried like never before. Like, what is God doing?! Not just in my personal life, but in the world at large He is allowing things that make me feel panicky and claustrophobic. I do want to somehow assert control, but it’s all shadowboxing really. When I step away from the news and go stand at the ocean’s edge with my feet sinking into the sand, I remember His goodness, His majesty, His kindness. And, Jesus calms me back down. He’s over this. Whew.

Friends, here’s the truth: Jesus is over it all. Have hope! Rejoice! Dance! Because HE is over everything.

We are launching a brand-new Online Bible Study — Jesus Over Everything — by Lisa Whittle November 30th and you do not want to miss it! Now more than ever, we believers must focus our hearts and minds on Jesus. And, what better time than through Advent!

You’ve heard the expressions “Jesus is the Reason for the Season” and “Keep Christ in Christmas”? We really do embrace those catchphrases, but we’re going deeper with Bible teacher Lisa Whittle as we learn to uncomplicate our lives and the struggle to put Jesus first in this season.

Jesus Over Everything is a six-week study that teaches us to arrest everything, every act, every habit, every distraction that attempts to take first position in our lives. It’s the season for us to rearrange our priorities, to pull down old idols, to clean the cobwebs off our faith walk.

When we are tempted to take back authority in our lives, Jesus first. When we forget how much we have made a mess running things, Jesus first. When we start to think we might just want to take another crack at it and see how it goes, Jesus first. ~ Lisa

Putting Jesus first means that we can be our real, authentic selves. We don’t have to jockey for control or try to win. We already win! It means we can always be honest — what a relief! — instead of hiding in shame because we’re loved, delighted in, and chosen. It means serving others is where it’s at because Jesus is a foot-washer. We’re over the pedestals of power and popularity because Jesus set the tone of humility.

We want life to go our way, don’t we? But, so often it just doesn’t and that is stressful, and hurtful, and disappointing. But, following Jesus, choosing Him above all else, and obeying Him actually gives us the best life possible!

In case you haven’t met Lisa before, she’s a pastor’s kid like me. She and her husband live in North Carolina like me (Road trip!). Lisa also has a few grown kids whom she really likes. She is the founder of Ministry Strong and the popular Jesus over Everything podcast (Is it still correct to say “tune in!”?), which debuted in the top twenty-five of Christian podcasts. I haven’t met her in person yet, but already really like her and I know you will, too.
