You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. — Acts 1:8
“You’re too young to do that!” Do you think that is an insult or a compliment? If you think it’s an insult, then you might just have the idea that your age might get in the way of God using you. It’s important to know that in the eyes of God, girls and boys are equally important and valuable. God loves and celebrates and wants to use you. You see, everyone has been given the same power of the Holy Spirit to fulfill our destiny — everyone.
Before you were born, you were given a destiny. The word destiny comes from the Latin root meaning to “make firm” or “establish.” In other words, you have a God-given destination that’s already prepared for you. If you think there are some things that you just can’t do because of your age, then you are missing out on all God has for you.

Just think about how God showed His love, blessing, and favor on some of the kids in the Bible!
- David was still young when he took a few smooth stones and defeated Goliath.
- Mary became the mother of the Son of God! A girl, around age 13, being responsible for the King of the World!
- A young boy offered his meal to Jesus when thousands were hungry. The Lord used that kid’s gift to feed multitudes.
- When the disciples tried to shoo away all the kids who were hanging around Jesus and receiving blessings, Jesus defended them and drew them closer.
- Jesus even says that those who don’t receive the Kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it (Luke 18:17).
Just because you’re young doesn’t mean that God gives you a smaller portion of His power or presence or Spirit.
God gives you all He has and doesn’t hold back.
Don’t give up your destiny and your access to the power of God. Your generation needs strong and determined girls and boys just like you! Launch a nonprofit to save the world. Help companies make ethical, God-honoring choices. Transform your community one person at a time. Tell others about Jesus. Gifted and empowered: that’s what you are. Walk in the fullness of all God has for you.

Declaration: I am empowered.
|
Today, ask God to open up your mind to the possibilities. This is a dreaming day. Think about what you might do for your community, your friends, your family. Where are the needs and how might the Holy Spirit work through you to fulfill those needs? Write down all your ideas and pray over them this week. Talk to your parents about what you’d like to do with the Lord as your strength.

God’s Power in Me is an interactive 52-day devotional that encourages young readers 8-12 to break free from negative thinking and focus on the positive truths of who God made them to be. Through daily devotions paired with a 90-second affirmation kids can say aloud every day, readers will grow closer to God and learn to challenge the personal doubts that might be holding them back.
I’m not good enough. I don’t deserve to be their friend. And things will never change. Kids tell themselves things like this every day, and popular Bible teacher and speaker Margaret Feinberg wants to help them defeat those self-doubts and stop believing the lies—because God only tells us the truth about ourselves, and that truth is we are all meant to have a joyous and powerful life.
